DEADLINE: July 31, 2015
Rules and Competition Format
CoreNet
Global has made a strategic priority of strengthening its relationship with
academic institutions around the world in order to grow the pipeline of talent
into the challenging, rewarding – and often overlooked – career of corporate
real estate. Real estate, human resources and technology typically rank among
the top three expenditures of most corporations. Corporate real estate executives
manage millions of dollars of assets across the globe and most stumbled into
the career path by happenstance and do not hold a degree in real estate.
The
Academic Challenge is an important step in raising the awareness of the
profession and the impact of corporate real estate on the global economy. This
competition is designed to attract students from all academic disciplines to
tackle key challenges facing the profession, and perhaps more importantly, the
challenges facing the enterprises our members serve.
Who
can Participate?
The
Challenge is a worldwide competition for students of all disciplines pursuing a
Bachelors, Masters or PhD-level qualification, or the local equivalent, at a
recognized degree awarding institution, such as a University, Grande Ecole,
College or Fachochschule, hereafter referred to as “University,” on a full-time
or part-time basis. Students must be registered with their home institution at
the time they submit materials for Round One of the Challenge
Employees
of CoreNet Global and their family members, and its Board of Directors are not
allowed to enter the Competition. Students currently involved in an internship,
apprenticeship or summer placement with CoreNet Global are not eligible to take
part in the competition.
Team
Size & Eligible Participants
The
Challenge is open to individuals or teams of no more than five (5) students
from the same institution. Team members may be from different academic programs
within the institution, but all team members must matriculate (be registered)
at the same institution. There can be no more than three (3) teams per
institution.
Each
team should ideally be comprised of a diverse range of students from different
disciplines, such as engineering, business, finance, and science. Interdisciplinary
teams may have an advantage when it comes to addressing this unstructured
problem.
Students
registering for more than one team will be disqualified. All participating
students must have a valid academic e-mail address. CoreNet Global reserves the
right to check the validity of the registration information submitted by
students at any stage during the competition and to ask for evidence of student
status from the university cited by the student.
CoreNet
Global also reserves the right to refuse participation, or to disqualify, at
any time during the competition, students (and their teams) who have submitted
incorrect or misleading information. Participants/teams will have no recourse
against disqualification decisions.
All
team members must be currently enrolled and in good standing with their
respective institution at the time they submit their materials for Round One.
Competing teams are NOT permitted to work together or to discuss the Challenge.
Absolutely no collusion or outside help beyond those resources made available
to teams by the Challenge will be tolerated as further discussed herein.
Each
team must have a faculty advisor from their home institution, and their contact
information must be included on the team’s registration form.  In addition, each team must appoint a Team
Leader. The Team Leader will be the main contact point for CoreNet Global, and
emails sent to the email address provided by the Team Leader will be considered
delivered.

This schedule is subject to change.
Because
academic calendars vary widely around the world, the Challenge has been
designed to allow students more time than most other competitions. Our goal is
to attract the widest range of entries from students at leading academic
institutions around the world. Submissions provided in advance of the deadline
are always welcome if the timing better coincides with a team’s academic
schedule, but there is no penalty for submissions received on the final day.
If
you are graduating before July 31, please submit your materials for Round One
before graduating.
